Hamilton Beach 52147H Dual Wave Versatile Blender, Silver

Product Description

From top to bottom, the Hamilton Beach® Dual Wave™ Blender is all about versatility and power. Versatility because it's a blender that's perfect for making drinks for a crowd and then it's a personal blender that lets you customize and blend two different drinks at once. Power because it doubles up with two sets of blades and two motors for a variety of blending and serving options. The Dual Wave™ Blender switches from an 80-ounce jar to dual 16-ounce single serve jars with ease. At 80 ounces, the pitcher is double the size of most blender jars, yet its powerful dual blades and dual motors (delivering 1000 watts peak power) are able to blend an entire pitcher-full in less than 30 seconds. That means less time blending and more time mingling with guests. With its convenient dispensing spout in place, drinks are served right into glasses, or for traditional pouring, the dishwasher-safe spout can be removed and capped off. When the party's over and it's time for one or two servings, the Dual Wave™ blender is ready to make two totally different recipes. How about a strawberry smoothie for you and a chocolate milkshake for the little one? That's easy. With two blending stations, each with individual speed dial and blade set, one or two drinks can be blended at a time, exactly the way each needs to be. If all this blending power and versatility isn't enough, the Dual Wave™ blender is also equipped with a high-performing Dual Wave~Action® system. This ensures that your ingredients are thoroughly blended for smooth results and no ice chunks every time.

  • Blend in 80-Ounce pitcher, one 16-Ounce cup or both cups at once
  • Blends a whole pitcher in less than 30 seconds
  • Dual Wave-Action system eliminates ice chunks
  • 1000 Watts of peak power
  • Dishwasher safe

5.0 out of 5 stars Honest Review For Hamilton Beach 52147H Blender, June 1, 2009
This review is from: Hamilton Beach 52147H Dual Wave Versatile Blender, Silver (Kitchen)
There are two types of people I feel sorry for. The one type are the people who give this product a negative review because they can't follow some simple instructions, and the other being the people who will be put off buying this blender because of the first. I have been using this device a lot for a while now and the bottom line is that it works great. Just as with anything else, as long as you take care of it properly then it will last a while. The whole thing is extremely easy to put together and take apart. I was able to figure it out with common sense and not even reading the directions the first time I put it together. I later went back and read the instructions to confirm what I had already figured out. I have blended using both the cups and the big blender jar and I am proud to report that it has fully blended all of my fresh AND frozen fruit until totally smooth with no big chunks of fruit. As a lesson to the other negative reviewers here are a few common sense points I have... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Professional Chef Rated EXCELLENT, September 1, 2009

As with any kitchen appliance... you must know how to properly operate it to give a fair evaluation. I couldn't undertand how people reported having "chunks" that could not blend. Sad to say...I now realize that most of the poor reviews were from people who don't know how to properly make a smoothie...

I purchased this blender for a 4th of July outdoor event where I sold smoothies to the public.... I sold 230 ea. (20 oz.) during the day. This machine worked perfectly... blended smooth, powerful, 80 oz. capacity pitcher is a huge bonus for parties but can also blend single 20 oz portions without a problem.

BIGGEST ADVANTAGE.....
NO AIR GAP !!! Most blenders create an "air bubble" when blending...Some Smoothie machines have a "Wand" that helps you stir while blending, to keep from the Air Gap from happening.... The Twin Blade system creates a smooth distribution of liquid and keeps the mixture moving.... This is a definite advantage over a single... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the perfect smoothie maker!, March 31, 2009

This review is from: Hamilton Beach 52147H Dual Wave Versatile Blender, Silver (Kitchen)
I dont know what everyone is complaining about, this is the best dang thing I've purchased in a long time! I use it only for smoothies. I bought it because it has dual blades, dual chambers, separate cups - but you can do 2 cups at a time if you wish. The whole process to make my protein smoothie takes all of 3 minutes. I am 9 1/2 months pregnant, and trust me, if it were difficult to use, I wouldn't use it! The cleanup is amazingly simple. I just rinse the removable blade in hot water and replace. I simply rinse the cups and caps the same way, and it's ready for tomorrow. I make my smoothies with frozen and fresh fruit, juice and protein powder. I think the people who say it doesn't work well dont make smoothies correctly - you need a liquid in order for the ice or frozen pieces to rotate around the blades - this is true for even the very best blenders. If youa re like me and want a smoothie daily, with minimal work, mess or clean up, and only want to use a small bit of counter... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Will do the things other won't but with some caveats, July 10, 2010
This review is from: Vitamix 1709 CIA Professional Series, Brushed Stainless Finish (Kitchen)
After about a week of use, I feel that I am qualified to write intelligently about this blender. I am very sure, and experienced that this very expensive blender will do what most others won't. However, there are some issues I have with the CIA. My first issue is that it has a variable speed control, but yet the manual says not really to use it for too long, or you could overheat the 2 HP motor. You are supposed to start in low, and as rapidly as you can take it all the way to the top speed on the variable control, and then switch it out of variable and into HIGH position.

I believe the variable control is there just to keep us from stripping the teeth off of the drive shaft that goes into the gear for the chopping blades. If you just turn it on in high, you will get a grinding noise. This is one of my main complaints.

The other complaint is how you can't run it too high, or you can't run it at too low, or you risk shutting the device off for up to 8 hours... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Necessity or Luxury?, December 21, 2009

Necessity or Luxury: Depends on if you have experienced it (& if you plan on using it regularly)

As a guy who takes his smoothies and soups very seriously, it is a necessity for me. While some might argue about the price (Covers the purchase of an average blender every year into perpetuity if purchase price is invested in an annuity), I find comparisons to other blenders moot as the results from the Vitamix is not reproducible by an average blender (no strawberry/blackberry seeds in your smoothie, no bell pepper seeds in your soup). And, cleaning takes seconds!

The Motor of the Vitamix 5200 is the same as the CIA Commercial blender and costs a little less. The CIA edition comes with an exhaustive recipe book and a CD. Did I mention the blend sound reminds me of a revving Ferrari? (All the more reason to go RED!)

However, please be aware that unit cannot handle heavy loads that thicken quickly. Be sure there is plenty of liquid if used on high speed. Unit twice in two weeks shut down on me, once for 8 hours because the ingredients thickened quickly (potato-leek soup). I had to finish recipe in my food processor. Because of this sensitivity, if I had to do it over again, I would put my investment elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars When in doubt, read the manual, September 12, 2004
By
For the most part, anything that is advertised on those infomercials over-promises or fails to deliver. I ordered a Magic Bullet anyway because it seemed to be just the sort of kitchen appliance that I needed...small, safe and useful. I crossed my fingers and ordered one. When the package arrived, it was packed nicely in a large case containing all the parts and accessories as advertised; mixing cups, drinking/mixing mugs, small blender attachment, juicer attachment, shaker cups, two receipe books, an instruction manual, blades and motor base. Basically, the Magic Bullet is a small compact blender that is turned on it's head. Instead of putting items from the top and blending/chopping them, you put the contents in a holding cup and twist on the cap/blade. This whole unit is then placed upside down on the base and you turn it on. After the contents are processed, you take the unit off the base and twist off the blade/cap. A great and ingenious idea. But the big question is, does it... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Bad rap, January 13, 2005
By
Darryl K. Springston "StingRay" (Walsh, Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have the Magic Bullet and I read some less than good reviews on the unit. I would like to put those to rest if I may.
1. After using the magic bullet, could smell the motor burning up.
Having worked with motors in the past, I can put that bad rap to rest. There are two types of electrical motors commonly used in the market today. One is an induction motor. and the other is the brush and commentator motor. Although the induction motor is most commonly used, there are some brush types out there. The burning electrical smell you sensed is common, especially when first using the motor. When first used, the brushes are not worn slightly to perfectly fit against the commentator. Until that happens, the brushes will slightly arc and you will sense an electrical smell but it doesn't take long till they are perfectly fitted to the commentator. After that, the smell will no longer be there. This is normal and is not a problem. It is not a sign of overheating or any damage to... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Irreplaceable plastic parts., November 9, 2005
I was using the Magic Bullet sparingly until its main drive gear on top of it's base unit shattered into 3 main pieces. It's made of plastic and I have not been able to find any source of replacement parts. When I contacted the distributor they only offered to sell me a new unit. They advertise it like it can handle anything but the gear broke while I was mixing a regular protein shake.I can't recommend this product.
